(to the sea)

INFLUENCE

1.
The single biggest influence on my artistic life is the band Bump of Chicken. I wanted to produce work that would give its viewers the same feeling that Bump of Chicken gave me when I heard their music. I would say the vast majority of my work is created around this mindset.

I liked that their songs (especially their earlier works) were self-contained, very simple stories/narratives and in a lot of ways (to the sea) pays homage to this (or at least I hope it does!).

2.
Ever since I was very young, my worst nightmares had to do with the sea, and shipwrecks. As a child I was terrified of pirates instead of aliens (stop laughing!) and I always hated the beach because I was scared of where it could take me if I floated too far.

3.
I believe that everyone should travel to somewhere totally different from their home at least once in their lifetime. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family where travelling is a hobby and fortunate enough to have parents who would take me and my sister along with them on their travels.

I believe that it is impossible to describe what it feels like to suddenly want to cry by simply standing in a place. This feeling is a driving force behind (to the sea), in which many places are visited.

4.
Steampunk! My favourite genre, because you can make it anything you want, however you like. Damn I love Steampunk!
